I spent the whole of last week reading Shaman King manga. I’ve finally finished now. The sad thing is, when I read manga, my whole life stops because i’m so addicted that I don’t stop reading
. So I didn’t really get much done, but I did finish my donut checkers set.
If you follow my Facebook you may have heard something about a travel mint-choc macaron set but that failed. Macarons aren’t easy enough to make cheap and fast for a checkers set, plus they didn’t look good plain. I didn’t want to drive up the costs of the checkers set, so I decided that with the amount of clay and time needed to make macarons, it wouldn’t really be worth it. So I ended up deciding on donuts.
The game board is a little drawstring bag that you can put your donut pieces in. The board is about 16x16cm big and the donuts are about 2cm in diameter, so it’s quite a small set.
The bag is made with calico and fabric crayon heat sealed with an iron so the crayon’s not going anywhere! And of course the donuts are my usual clay miniatures.
Because of the time needed to make this checkers set, this is a special order item. The set is $20 and takes 3 days to make and dry.
To order please email me at hikariadeco@gmail.com. I require prepayment for this item so please include your country so I can calculate shipping and your Etsy username if you have one as I prefer to do transactions over Etsy. Please also let me know if you’d like other colours for the donuts. Unfortunately I am only able to make the board yellow at this time
. Also, if you desire toppings for the donuts extra charges may apply depending on types of toppings (for example, sprinkles) because of the extra time needed to make and attach these. Please email if you have any questions

Uni semester starts very soon for me so I am worried about how i’m going to balance crafting, blogging and studying. I promise I will get my millefeuille tutorial and a post about my tools done soon before the uni term starts. I’m not sure if I will be reviewing those craft books I promised to review a while ago any time soon, i’m very sorry about that! If you really wish to see it or if you really want one of the books I had in my photo reviewed let me know and i’ll do it
.
Hey everyone, I know it’s been a while since I last posted! Firstly I wanted to once again thank you all and distribute large, virtual hugs to everyone who supported me through my rejection from Occupational Therapy. The good news is I was given a second round offer into the course, which I promptly took all while jumping and doing my happy dance! Once again thank you so, so much everyone for your support, I wish I could fly to every corner of the world and thank you all face to face and give you all big hugs!
So lately i’ve been studying up to get a headstart on the course and that’s why I haven’t been online much or sculpting much. I’m worried that once I start the course I won’t be able to keep up with my blogging duties so i’m trying to get a lot out of the way now during the holidays to make it easier for me in the long run. I still want to run markets and stuff, but i’m really not sure how feasible it is anymore to do so. It’s a shame because I love running market stalls, but unfortunately I may have to give that up once the course starts. It depends on my timetable of course.
I’ve got lots of miscellaneous news items too before I move onto the actual blog post, so here it is. This Sunday I will be selling at the Suitcase Rummage again, this time outside Brisbane Square and not at KGS, check the link for more details. I am kind of sort of planning to sell at the Valley Laneway Markets, but this was before I got the letter saying I got into OT, so I am not sure anymore, i’ll keep you guys updated on Facebook and Twitter. Also my Etsy has lots of new-ish items listed so do take a look! Right now my favourite item is the heart cream puff.
Phew! That’s done, onto the post
Hey everyone, firstly thank you so, so much for your messages of support. I’m really touched by how generous many of you were with your support and I just wanted to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Knowing that my little website actually helps people and brightens people’s days means that i’ve accomplished a goal in my life
.
So I wanted to give a bit of a thank you gift, and so i’ve drafted up a free pattern for a mini version of my Super Rollcake Man who seems to be popular. You can now sew up your very own little SRC-man to look after you with super sweetness! This is actually my very first time drafting a pattern, usually when I draft I draft directly onto the fabric, so if there are any issues with the paper pattern please let me know and i’ll fix it up accordingly.
Directions and pattern are after the jump:
I just know i’m going to get weird search keywords now that i’ve put the words ‘lusting’ and ‘lolita’ in my title, so if you came here thinking you will find young girls being sexy you can think again!
Anyway I took a break yesterday from sculpting and decided to do some sewing. I spent the night before trawling through lolita websites reliving my younger senior high school days when I was a ‘mild’ gothic lolita, in other words a broke one who couldn’t afford an extensive wardrobe, nor have the time to sew myself one. Right now my fashion style is mostly indie with a small dash of classic lolita blouses and gyaru, in other words I just wear whatever the frick I want to, but I suddenly had a yearning to wear a lolita style skirt. So I got sewing.
I ended up making this skirt and seriously I nearly exploded with rage sewing this stupid thing. This is actually the second skirt, somehow I screwed up the measurements for my waist in the first skirt so it was too big, plus it had some ribbon trim at the bottom that I ended up not liking. So I cut out a second bit of fabric, and made the skirt without the trim and I liked it a lot better. Then I decided it needed a scallop hem, and let me tell you, scallop hems require superhuman freakin’ patience! I mean the cutting and the measuring… just thinking about it is giving me nightmares again! Theeen, I tried to make a half elasticised waistband with no zip because I hate putting in zips but I also hate the look of an all elasticised waistband, but for some reason that failed because I couldn’t get the skirt over my thighs, so I had to undo the whole waistband, cut out a new one and then elasticised it all… now I don’t like the top of the skirt because of its waistband
. Eh whatever, I bought some stripe fabric too and I want to make a bustle skirt out of that, but right now I don’t even want to look at a sewing machine for a while!
Meanwhile the market is in two days and I am getting nervous! I’ve made some new stock for it, I won’t be listing these on Etsy because I need all the stock I can get right now but if you really do want one of these let me know and I can save one for you.
Recently my favourite bag brand Hayden-Harnett went on massive sale and it reminded me of my desire to own a unbearably cute weekender bag. Unfortunately the massive sale meant I had to choose between buying my dream weekender or buying my dream large-medium sized shoulder bag. I choose the latter, which means I do not have my cute dream weekender, and on top of that the Toulouse is weekender is now 60% off… but out of the fabric I want. Shopping around I found that decent weekend bags were actually around $150, which I felt was too expensive. So therefore, I have decided to make my own big weekender bag! I bought some cute apple canvas fabric (cost $49 for 1.75m) and some floral cotton for lining (more expensive than it should have been!). Construction started a few days ago with the pattern drafting, measuring and the checking, double checking and triple checking. Now I just need to put it together. Sewing is not my strong point but wish me luck!
Meanwhile I did recently sew a bucket bag to get my sewing juices flowing.
